Local Grangetown residents told us they want to see their community thriving with great quality produce, shops and businesses which encourage people to shop and work locally and re-invest in the area.
Grangetown residents have suggested the following ideas to encourage people to work and shop locally. We're advertising these projects throughout the University so we can work alongside residents to start acting on these ideas. We will update these pages with the progress of the project and new collaborations.

Grangetown World Market
Celebrating the diversity of Grangetown by inviting shoppers to sample local produce at a world street market.
The idea
Grangetown World Market is an idea developed from a local business forum and aims to highlight all the area has to offer including food, clothes, crafts and music. The market is part of the wider Love Grangetown, Shop Grangetown project which promotes local independent businesses from the traditional high street outlet to those working from home and online.
Progress
Community Gateway, Grangetown Community Action and local residents launched the first Grangetown World Market in July 2017 and was funded by Cardiff University’s City Region Exchange.
Seventeen different stalls were featured at the event, including, nine Grangetown businesses and two enterprises run by University staff or students. More than 200 residents visited the market despite the weather and picked up fantastic treats including handmade macaroons from Lolo’s Cake Away, all new Grangetown tote bags and stunning crafts and clothing.
Those who ventured out during the sunny spells caught some sun whilst indulging in Grangetown’ s finest Ffwrnes Pizza or a BBQ from Spicer’s Meat Wagon. Grangetown favourites were also featured including Clark’s Pies and samosas from Vegetarian Food studio.
