A workshop with Swiss writer Alexandra Lavizzari who will introduce her novel, Und Harry? She will talk the participants through how she wrote it and will read various parts from it in German. Participants will then have the opportunity to translate paragraphs from German into English and to discuss the outcome of their attempt with the writer.
This will be followed by a wine reception in the School foyer between 16:30 and 17:30.
Biography:
Alexandra Lavizzari, born in Basel, is a Swiss writer. She studied Ethnology and Islamic Studies in Basel. As the wife of a diplomat, Alexandra lived in Kathmandu, Islamabad, Bangkok and Rome and since 2011 she has lived in Somerset, England. Alexandra has published translations from Persian and has written, amongst others, critically acclaimed books in German on the relationship between Truman Capote and Harper Lee published in 2017 and on Carson McCullers and Annemarie Schwarzbach published 2016. Her novel, ‘Und Harry?’, published in 2017, plays around with the genre of the detective novel and is partly set in Wales.
