Chinese Corner - Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is the most important festival in the Chinese calendar and is a time when families come together to celebrate the start of the new lunar year. This year, the Festival falls on 5th February and will welcome the Year of the Pig, an animal which is often considered as a symbol of wealth in Chinese culture.

In this evening talk we will introduce the past and the present of the Chinese Spring Festival as well as its rich and diverse cultural connotations. You will be encouraged to interact with the lecturer in Chinese or English to explore different perspectives on such a long-standing tradition, and there will be some traditional snacks for you to try!
