As part of our ambitious digitisation project, we have invested in a FARO Laser Scanner Focus3D X 130.
The scanner is ultra-portable and enables fast, straightforward, yet accurate measurements of façades, complex structures, production and supply facilities, accident sites, and large-volume components. It has one million points/second scanning rate, a scanning range up to 130m and integrated GPS.
We have used the scanner to develop a 3D model of The Works site in Ebbw Vale, as part of the RESILIENT project. Our on-going schemes include the scanning and modelling of Cardiff Castle and Cathays Park.
