Run the Newport Marathon with #TeamCardiff

Runners at the start line of Newport Wales Marathon

Experience one of the UK's flattest marathons and go for a PB at the ABP Newport Wales Marathon on 13 April 2025.

The ABP Newport Marathon is one of the newest events to the #TeamCardiff calendar. It's a popular race which boasts one of the flattest marathon courses in Europe. Over 70% of all finishers have claimed a PB on a route that offers iconic landmarks like the city’s Transporter Bridge and the picturesque Gwent Levels.

As part of #TeamCardiff you can choose to support either Cardiff University’s neuroscience and mental health, or cancer research. By supporting the next generation of researchers, you can help accelerate life-changing discoveries to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for people living with a wide range of conditions.

Cancer researchers at Cardiff University are improving outcomes for people living with some of the most common cancers such as breast, prostate and bowel, as well as those that are rarer or hard to treat.

Cardiff University’s neuroscience and mental health researchers are developing new treatments for a wide range of debilitating conditions including ADHD, depression, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer’s.

Got your own Newport Wales Marathon place or want to set your own fundraising target?

We’d love you to join #TeamCardiff! You will receive all the same support as our charity place runners (including your free #TeamCardiff running top), just without the minimum fundraising target. Purchase your place from the Newport Marathon website. As well as the Marathon, there are Half Marathon and 10k races.

Whatever distance you choose, just tell us you'd like to join #TeamCardiff!

The money you raise

100% of the fundraising monies received by Cardiff University will go directly to your chosen university research cause.
