'Voices of 68' Exhibition by Dr Chris Reynolds

An exhibition by Dr Chris Reynolds (Nottingham Trent University) portraying the events in Ireland in 1968. It will be exhibited in the School of Modern languages for one week between 19-26 March. The exhibition has attracted much interest nationally and is being taken to 20 venues across the UK.

Dr Reynolds will give a paper on Museums and ‘Difficult Pasts’: Northern Ireland’s 1968, which is open to all, on Wednesday 20 March between 17:00- 18:00.

Biography

Chris Reynolds is Associate Professor of Contemporary French and European Studies at Nottingham Trent University. Dr Reynolds main research interests are in relation to the events of 1968. Having initially focussed on the French events of May 68, he has widened his analysis to examine the period from a European perspective. He has published a number of articles on the French events and his first monograph was published in 2011: Memories of May’68: France’s Convenient Consensus (University of Wales Press). He has also been involved in research on the events of 1968 in Northern Ireland and in 2015 he published his second monograph entitled Sous les paves…The Troubles: France, Northern Ireland and the European Collective memory of 1968 (Peter Lang 2015).

He is currently leading a significant research project between Nottingham Trent University (NTU) and Ulster Museum on the question of Northern Ireland’s 1968. This exhibition and accompanying seminar focuses on significant political and social occurrences in Northern Ireland between 1965 and 1972, and how these events have been portrayed 50 years on.
