Dr James Doherty works at the University of Bristol, where he is Project Facilitator for the project Charlemagne: A European Icon, examining linguistic cultures in medieval chronicles and epics. He is also Supervising Scholar at the Independent Crusaders Mapping Project, which seeks to shed light on individuals who assumed the identity of crusader and travelled to the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem outside of the major crusades. The results of this project provide the basis for this talk on knights who travelled to the Holy Land on crusade.
