About our speaker
Dr Aideen Maguire is a trained Psychiatric Epidemiologist and is currently a Reader in Social Epidemiology within the School of Medicine at Queen’s University Belfast.
She is the director of the Administrative Data Research Centre (ADRC) Northern Ireland and runs the team of research specialists from Queen's University Belfast and Ulster University who are focused on delivering high-quality and impactful evidence that supports policy and practice in Northern Ireland.
The ADRC research portfolio includes work examining income, povery, deprivation, education, air pollution, the built environment, children in care, homeless, the justice system and mental ill health.
Aideen is co-investigator on several research grants leading themes that utilise administrative data to better understand population mental health and mental illness, such as the Northern Ireland Longitudinal Study (NILS), Groundswell, MuM-PreDiCT and Behavioural Research UK.
Aideen and her team have recently published a number of papers on the theme of mental ill-health, self-harm and suicide and are creating a policy brief based on the findings to help inform policy and practice in Northern Ireland.
The lecture will take place on Zoom, followed by time for questions.
