This global meeting will act as a catalyst for debating the challenges faced by higher education institutions in an increasingly uncertain world, through sharing best practice, harnessing collective wisdom and maximising opportunities for advancing the discourse.

CLIC 2025 will be hosted by through a tri-university partnership (Cardiff University, Swansea University and Bangor University), held for the first time in Europe, within the United Kingdom’s home nation of Wales at Cardiff University’s city centre campus.

Our conference theme is:

“Mewn undod mae nerth / Strength in unity”

Realising strength and transforming community engaged medical education through collaboration and interdisciplinarity.

In the current climate of divisions and challenges, this conference draws on the idea of ‘strength in unity’ and considers our role as Higher Education Institutions in responding to societal needs through civic mission and how we can further societal impact at local, national and international levels through community engagement/involvement.

The role of community is at the heart of CLIC, and through the conference we will seek to affirm and energise the principles and practices of CLIC and LICs. When we conceptualise community from a Wales context we do so as a social unit/group of people with a shared socially significant characteristic, shared values, behaviours and artifacts.

The delivery of medical education is facing challenges throughout the world. Within Wales we have approached these challenges by working in partnership.

Drawing on the unique, yet transferable, conceptual set up of the Welsh Healthcare system, the conference will seek to explore the benefits and challenges associated with this. We will share our learning from collaborations and the potential for knowledge transfer.

Delegates will have the chance to compare with their own systems whilst providing opportunity to explore their own ideas and apply them in their local context.

Our CLIC2025 conference will include plenaries, small group discussions, debates, posters, workshops, and Conference on the Move.
