Cathays Park / Parc Cathays

Beginning at Glamorgan Building, this interactive tour guides participants through the city, pointing out overlooked, marginalised and complicated histories of Cardiff.

Following the tour, we will gather at the Central Library Hub to share ideas and creatively re-map Cardiff’s history and geography. Participants will be able to take away practical methods and ideas for rethinking ways to represent their own town or city’s histories.

This event, led by researchers from Cardiff University’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences in partnership with The Wallich (a registered charity working to end homelessness in Wales), builds on research and a community of practice between academics, community groups and societies in Cardiff and further afield to better understand what ‘decolonising the city’ means in practice.

This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of humanities taking place 7-16 November 2024. Being Human is led by the School of Advanced Study at the University of London, with generous support from Research England, in partnership the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
