Welcome to Wales

In January 2024, the final report of the Independent Commission on the Constitutional Future of Wales was published. It was commissioned by Welsh Government with 2 broad objectives; firstly, to develop options for fundamental reform of the constitutional structures of the United Kingdom, in which Wales remains an integral part, and secondly, to consider and develop all progressive principal options to strengthen Welsh democracy and deliver improvements for the people of Wales. The Welsh Government’s full response to the report can be found here.

In this Breakfast Briefing, we will be joined by the co-chairs of the report, Professor Laura McAllister and The Rt Hon Dr Rowan Williams to look at their findings and to share work that is ongoing around the recommendations relating to democracy and engagement. The panel will also discuss how the report has been received, sharing their expectations of what they would like to see progress under a new Labour government at UK level, and of course, a new First Minister in Wales.
