Run by Cardiff University’s Community Gateway, in partnership with the Grange Pavilion, Grangetown Career and Role Model Week connects residents with academic and professional advisors.
The event provides an opportunity to speak to local role models gaining insight into a range of subjects that can be studied, as well as getting tailored advice on both educational and career paths.
Event attendees can get one-to-one support with job or university applications, and budding entrepreneurs can get business advice. The event offers something for everyone, from young people in local primary schools to adults seeking work opportunities or a change of career direction.
In addition to Cardiff University’s presence at the event, Cardiff and Vale College, the Open University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, the University of South Wales, and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama will all participate throughout the week.
Visitors to the event will get the opportunity to sign up to visit Cardiff University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cardiff and the Vale College and/or the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama on Saturday 9 March from 10am-3pm, with free transport provided from Grange Pavilion and back again.
Career and Role Model Week 2024 programme of events
Sessions will take place from Monday to Friday with an opportunity to visit local universities on the Saturday.
Each session will be ‘themed’ around a subject or topic, and the itinerary will run as follows:
Monday 4 March, Introduction to Careers Week session
Tuesday 5 March, Arts, Humanities and Social Science
Weds 6 March, Physical Sciences and Engineering
Thursday 7 March, Biological and Life Science
Friday 8 March, Professional Services and Employability session (HR), Pathways/Lifelong Learning and entrepreneur advice session
Sat 9 March, Campus visits to HE and FE institutions from 10:00-15:00
