Gwenno Saunders is a songwriter, producer, and vocalist working in music, film, and theatre. Across her three critically acclaimed solo albums – the Welsh Music Prize-winning Y Dydd Olaf (2014), Le Kov (2018), and the Mercury Prize-shortlisted Tresor (2022) – Gwenno sings songs of memory in Kernewek (Cornish), Cymraeg (Welsh), and English, the languages of her upbringing.
In conversation with Dr Joe O’Connell (Lecturer, Cardiff University School of Music), Gwenno will discuss the key tools for her creativity, giving insight into her processes, the importance of language to her musical intentions, and how she views long-term collaboration as vital to her artistic development.
