Clare Hammond's performance is the third and final concert in School of Music's Piano Series.
The adventurous programme opens with dazzling etudes by Hélène de Montgeroult, who paved the way for a later generation of Romantic composers and was described as “the missing link between Mozart and Chopin”. Beethoven’s Pathétique Sonata, full of passion and verve, is framed by two new works - the world premiere of John Hopkins’ Corona di Sonetti and Piu Sik by Cardiff University’s own Dr Litang Shao. Albéniz’s imaginative tribute to Spain forms a pyrotechnic finale.
