During the pandemic, Cardiff University played a leading role in national efforts to understand how Coronavirus infection can cause our immune systems to both protect and harm us.
Professor Ian Humphreys, Co-Director and Lead of Infections and Pandemics in the Systems Immunity Research Institute, and Professor Richard Stanton (BSc 1999, PhD 2003) Head of Infection, School of Medicine, will explain this, and how the University’s researchers made crucial contributions to the development of safe and effective vaccines.
Hear about ongoing work to tackle the debilitating impact of Long COVID, and how the scientific legacy of COVID has sparked exciting research that will not only help prevent future pandemics, but also has wider applications for other diseases such as cancer.
