Cardiff University Baroque Ensemble Concert

The baroque ensemble will explore some of the unique and vocal and instrumental repertory written for the young sopranos and altos of the Venetian Ospedale Grandi charitable institutions in Venice during the early 1700s. Composers for the Ospedale comprised the most accomplished and cosmopolitan musicians in Europe, famous not only in Venetian lands, but also Vienna, London, Rome and St Petersburg. Join us for some vibrant music by Antonio Vivaldi, Baldassare Galuppi, Johann Adolph Hasse, Antonio Lotti and others, coupled with an overture by Marianna Martines, one of the most famous female composers in eighteenth-century Vienna.
