Cardiff University Symphony Orchestra is one of the UK's premier student symphony orchestras, underpinned by acclaimed CD recordings, most recently works by Michael Csanyi-Wills, released September 2021, worldwide touring opportunities and concerts in high profile venues such as St David's Hall and BBC’s Hoddinott Hall.
Mark Eager, conductor:
'Our concert this semester finally sees us venture out again to the wonderful acoustic of St. David’s Hall, which I’m sure will be exciting for both the performers and the audience. I have chosen music that has depth and gravitas, contrasting with the Autumn term's concert, and explores the relationship between the ‘great’ German composers as seen in their relatively smaller works – Beethoven - Coriolan Overture, Brahms - Variations on a Theme by Haydn, Wagner – Siegfried Idyll and Mahler – Symphony No. 4 (first movement only)'.
