Cardiff University Act of Remembrance 2021

Armistice Day falls on Thursday 11 November 2021 and staff, students, alumni and members of the public are invited to attend the Act of Remembrance in the VJ Gallery, Main Building. You must register your attendance please and places are strictly limited.

The Service will be led by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Colin Riordan, Co-ordinating Chaplain, Rev Delyth Liddell and the University’s Multi-faith Chaplaincy.

We will be filming the event live and those who wish to watch the University’s Act of Remembrance online, and observe the two-minute silence, can do so on the University's website from 10:55.

Safety Guidelines for attending an on-campus event

The Act of Remembrance will operate within the latest Welsh Government Guidelines. Due to current Government guidance and restrictions on gatherings, there will be limited spaces available at this event. To ensure the safety of our guests, we ask that you observe the safety measures in place in our buildings:

The COVID 19 Virus is spread by breathing in airborne particles and/or touching a surface with the virus on then touching your face therefore you need to be aware of:

• reporting if you or your family are suffering from COVID and following government guidance
• effective personal hygiene (coughing or sneezing into tissue and dispose)
• effective hand hygiene
• avoid touching nose, mouth, and eyes

Before arriving on site ensure you bring a face covering with you, which you are required to wear within indoor publicly accessible areas of the University in line with Welsh Government requirements.

Use the entry and exit points and follow signage for the route around the building

Report to reception on arrival

Use hand sanitiser when you enter or leave a building

Be considerate of other people in the building and maintain social distancing where possible

In an emergency you must use the nearest safe exit point, regardless of any COVID-19 specific signage or routes. Evacuating quickly is more important than physical distancing.

Please remember to wash your hands regularly throughout the day
