The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted weaknesses in UK food systems, whilst opening windows of opportunity for innovation and transformation.
In this seminar we suggest how food systems can become more resilient to future crises, and counter social inequalities entrenched by the pandemic. We will share insights from research in Wales which has looked at how producers, consumers, and community organisers experienced and responded to the crisis. This will highlight actions which foreshadow how enduring change to food systems can be achieved and support required to enable these transformations. Throughout we emphasise food justice principles which promote people-centred approaches to avoid injustices.
