Enoch Salisbury – book collector, MP, businessman and solicitor, was born on the 7th of November, 1819. After receiving a book in Welsh as a birthday gift as a boy, Salisbury dedicated the rest of his years to collecting, and reading, books about Wales.
After a lifetime building a one-man ‘national library’, Enoch Salisbury sold his collection to Cardiff’s brand new University in 1886. That is where the collection remains today, an inspiration to researchers, artists, poets and much more.
To celebrate Salisbury’s contribution to Welsh history, and to learn more about his extraordinary collection, join us for a special event in the company of Damian Walford Davies, Siwan Rosser, Ifor Davies and more.
Event kindly sponsored by Cardiff University’s Welsh Network.
Bilingual event. Simultaneous translation from Welsh to English provided.
