Speaker: Professor Maggie Snowling, University of Oxford.
This lecture is part of our Science in Health Public Lecture Series.
The concept of dyslexia has had a turbulent history since it was first described in 1896.
The debate about the utility of the term continues, some casting doubt not only on this but on the very existence of the condition.
In the lecture I will place this debate in its scientific context, describing what known about the biological, environmental and cognitive causes of dyslexia as a way of understanding how to ameliorate its effects.
