Cardiff Conversations
The Cardiff Conversations research lecture series pairs eminent guest speakers with research being undertaken at Cardiff University, to discuss and highlight the important challenges facing society and how we can solve them.
In our inaugural event, which took place on 8 May 2024, featured presenter, best-selling author, and Youth Mental Health Ambassador to the government, Dr Alex George, who shared insights into his professional and personal encounters with mental health challenges, emphasising his commitment to dismantling the stigma surrounding it. This event was hosted by the Neuroscience and Mental Health Innovation Institute.
Our second event, which took place on 23 October 2024, featured broadcaster and Cardiff University alumna, Babita Sharma (BA 1998), who talked about her experiences of working as a journalist and interviewer in the era of fake news and artificial intelligence, how she calls out those in power seeking to spread disinformation, and how it’s our mutual responsibility to critically examine what we’re being told. This event was hosted by the Security, Crime, and Intelligence Innovation Institute.
