Research with a global impact
Our research has wide-ranging impacts on the lives of people around the world.
Working together
We work with researchers based overseas, governments, NGOs (non-governmental organisations) and charities to ensure that our discoveries and innovations are applied and implemented internationally.
Researchers in chemistry, for example, are investigating new ways of desalinating water to safeguard global water supply. Architects are designing new temples to conserve ancient craftsmanship and knowledge in India with the Sree Kalyana Venkateshwara Hoysala Art Foundation and engineers are working with Airbus to improve the safety of aeroplanes during lightning strikes.
Supporting research staff
International research staff are key to our mission of helping to address key global problems with interdisciplinary and innovative research. We are committed to developing our research staff through dedicated training programmes, such as the Welsh Crucible, funding opportunities, and research grant support. We currently also provide funding for visiting fellows who would like to collaborate with our researchers.
Our state-of-the-art catalysis facility supports world leading research in chemical sciences.
