About us
We are internationally renowned for research and teaching excellence, innovation, industrial engagement, sustainable solutions and societal impact.
The College boasts considerable strength with a diverse portfolio of research and teaching activities aimed at creating exciting global research directions and a rich student experience.
We are comprised of seven academic Schools:
Our agenda-setting research is driven by fundamental enquiry, from investigating the cosmos to the earth's interior, from the atmosphere to the oceans, from energy to health, from catalysis to tissue engineering, from lightning to materials. Theoretical research is translated to practical and commercial application across the College creating new knowledge and training the next generations of engineers, architects and scientists.
We enable our students to become employable and highly skilled graduates, with capacity for curiosity and innovation. A major strength of our degree programmes is the professional qualifications that they lead to. We provide a uniform, high quality and enriching student experience, with a strong emphasis on supporting students through the transition to independent learning and recruiting students from a variety of communities, countries and societies.
This is supported by our strong industrial partnerships, where we build relationships with industry to translate our world-leading research into real solutions for societal and economic impact.
We are also committed to staff development and equality of opportunity, for example building on our Athena SWAN Charter awards to further support the careers of women in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
