Facilities
Much of our team is based at Cardiff University's flagship Hadyn Ellis Building on the Maindy Park campus.
It boasts a 12,500 sq/ft laboratory with dedicated rooms for biobanking and pre-PCR work, as well as areas for research on genomics, tissue culture, proteomics, RNA analysis, genetically modified organisms, radioactivity and microscopy.
Our state-of-the-art equipment includes Ion Proton and Ion Torrent next generation sequencing systems, Illumina IScan and BeadXpress genotyping platforms, Life Technologies Open Array technology and Qiagen's Pyromark pyrosequencing system.
The Hadyn Ellis Building also has a dedicated NHS clinic space, with lab-based psycho-physics testing and patient-centred research supported via the National Centre for Mental Health.
Our researchers have access to the latest imaging facilities available through the Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC).
Staff development
We have a strong commitment to staff development, and to equality and diversity in the workplace.
All of our staff undertake annual performance development reviews to identify training and career development needs.
We support our early career researchers in preparing grant applications and through 'seed-corn' funding initiatives.
