Super Science Saturday!
Super Science Saturday is our annual collaborative Public event with Cardiff University and the National Museum Cardiff which takes place every October at the National Museum Cardiff.
Join our scientists, alongside staff from the National Museum Cardiff and the Society of Biology, to celebrate Biology and Earth Sciences Weeks where a series of interactive demonstrations are shown.
These events aim to excite, inspire and educate visitors about biology. You can learn about our research, the wide range of biosciences topics that exist and get meet our staff and students.
On the day visitors are encouraged to engage with as many demonstrations as they wish. They collect stamps on a postcard (one per demonstration) and are awarded with a small gift if they engage with most of the demonstrations on offer. We deliver the blood and cells activity where children learn about the fundamentals of blood, its function, different cells found in the body and a hands on activity to make a cell out of modelling clay. In addition to this our volunteers also create fake hand wounds as part of the "wound painting" activity and talk to visitors about how the body reacts when a person cuts themselves.
