Allan Meek
Allan Meek is a successful, Cardiff-based entrepreneur and business leader.
Cardiff-born Allan Meek followed a building services engineering apprenticeship and worked as a project manager in the construction industry before starting his own company, SCS Group in 1992.
SCS, headquartered in Cardiff with a manufacturing facility in Dorset and offices in London and Portsmouth, has grown into a leading specialist in smoke control for fire safety in high-rise buildings.
The company excels in delivering successful solutions for complex major projects nationwide. SCS has successfully completed thousands of buildings nationwide including the Battersea Power Station redevelopment, the Olympic Velodrome, and most of the high-rise buildings in Cardiff, including the HMRC building, Central Square, and the new Transport Interchange.
SCS was acquired by Systemair, the Swedish ventilation system business in 2023. Allan exited the company in 2024 and now offers consultancy for businesses looking to grow.
A firm believer in employee engagement as a source of competitive advantage, Allan has an MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University and has vast experience in coaching through his previous roles at The Princes Trust and the Help to Grow programme.
Outside of work Allan enjoys exploring and challenges. He impressively summitted Mount Everest in 2017.
“In my time as a Public Value Entrepreneur in Residence, I’ve given talks to students and mentored on the Help to Grow programme which has been extremely rewarding. I enjoy hearing different points of view, learning about new organisations and their approaches to commerce, and sharing lessons I’ve learned on my business journey from start-up to exit.”
