IROHMS future leaders academy 2021
IROHMS Future Leaders Academy 2021 brought together leading academics, higher education, public and third sector managers and industry experts.
Our first annual conference welcomed an international body of attendees and speakers, including academics and students from Cardiff University's Schools of Engineering, Psychology and Computer Science and Informatics with a wide range of collaborators.
The virtual conference ran over a period of six weeks, from 18 January–26 February 2021, comprising an exciting programme of events:
- four discussion forums
- three lab tours
- four leadership training workshops
- a PhD colloquium.
Research themes included human-like AI, ethical and explainable AI, human-centred technologies and society, and humans and robots. Our speakers included internationally recognised experts in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics and human-machine systems as well as guest speakers from Costain, Dyson, Intellectual Property Office, GE Aviation and UKRI EPSRC.
Our Future Leaders Academy provided support and opportunities to our members and PhD students to develop the necessary skills of a future leader, and allowed us to demonstrate our transformational research and strong industrial and public sector engagement.
