Postgraduate taught
Our portfolio of master’s degrees reflects the school’s strengths in research across architectural design, urbanism, architectural science, computational methods in architecture, design research, history, heritage and conservation and professional practice. While the courses are diverse, the sustainability of design and development at different scales is a strong cross-cutting theme.
The courses all confront the role of the built environment, both historic and contemporary, in the production of global challenges such as climate change. In different ways, they also explore the potential of design practice and innovation to address these challenges, shaping better prospects for future generations and our collective future world. Students benefit from being taught by experts in their fields, including both researchers and practitioners.
The courses are designed to be of value to those wishing to undertake specialist study after an undergraduate degree as well as to professionals looking to develop new skills and expertise. Many offer part-time or distance-learning study options, making them suitable for working professionals wishing to remain in practice while studying. Many also integrate expertise from other schools in the university creating opportunities for specialised, cross-disciplinary learning.
