Postgraduate research student spaces

Our postgraduate students have their own dedicated spaces within Bute building for both rest and study.

The three rooms allocated to postgraduate research (PGR) students studying at the Welsh School of Architecture aim to provide every full-time student with a dedicated personal desk space for the duration of their fee-paying period of study. The double height rooms are located on the north-west corner of the building on the first floor and benefit from views over the Temple of Peace, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama as well as the Bute Park arboretum. Each student has a dedicated PC and an acoustic carrel of their own as well as a locker space within the room. The PGR study spaces are conveniently located next to the library and adjacent to the majority of the school’s research offices bringing students into daily contact with academics and researchers across the spectrum of the school’s activities. Informal meetings take place in the dedicated kitchen and sitting area that serves research students and academics working in this part of the building. There are organised coffee meetings with the Director of PGR and the Research Office staff on alternate Wednesday mornings. A block booking for PGR meetings is set permanently to enable students to organise their own meetings, seminars and events.
