Support alumni or current students through our mentoring programmes.

Whatever time you’re able to commit, our flexible programmes offer a choice of one-off, informal, or structured mentoring, to suit your schedule.

As well as supporting others, mentoring can help you develop new skills, enhance your CV, and build your professional network.

Womentoring

Designed to inspire and empower the next generation of Cardiff University alumnae, our annual Womentoring programme brings together female mentors at the top of their fields in industries such as law, tech, finance, manufacturing, and publishing, with early-career mentees.

Held during March each year, this flash-mentoring programme is low on time and high on impact for both mentors and mentees. Mentors are assigned up to three mentees and across the month hold a mixture of group and one-to-one sessions. The Womentoring programme is a trans-inclusive opportunity. Key features of Womentoring include:

  • flash mentoring
  • alumni to alumni
  • online
  • four weeks during March

If you’d be interested in taking part in the next Womentoring programme, please email alumni@cardiff.ac.uk.

Mentor a student

Led by our Student Futures careers team, the Cardiff University Career Mentoring Scheme is an opportunity for students to benefit from discussing their career plans with an experienced professional in their chosen field. Alumni mentors are matched with student mentees and a framework for conversations is supplied.

You’ll be expected to meet for a minimum of five sessions between late November and April. Recruitment for the scheme takes place from September to November and any expressions of interest submitted after this time will be considered for the following year. Key features of this programme include:

  • formal mentoring
  • alumni to student
  • online or in person
  • six months – November to April

Support young entrepreneurs

Help the next generation of student and graduate entrepreneurs by sharing your experiences. The University’s Enterprise and Start-up team are looking for alumni who can inspire budding entrepreneurs through mentoring, participating in networking events, and giving talks.
