Chief Digital and Information Officer

Daniel Lawrence is our Chief Digital and Information Officer.
Daniel leads the development of the university’s digital strategy, ensuring we have the systems in place to support our university strategy. As a member of the University Executive Board, Daniel plays a critical role in deciding how the introduction of technologies will meet our new emerging needs as an institution.
Prior to joining Cardiff University, Daniel was Chief Digital Information Officer at the University of Liverpool having joined them from a similar role at the University of Birmingham, where he oversaw both the Digital programmes for each institution and the running of IT Services.
Before his HE sector experience, Daniel had an extensive career in IT across a breadth of sectors, both in the UK and globally, including manufacturing at Rolls Royce and in finance, healthcare, and Government.
As Chief Digital and Information Officer, Daniel is responsible for leading on the development of a digital strategy and the technological alignment of the University’s ambitious Transformation plans; whilst also ensuring that we have the systems in place to support our University strategy, and aligning this with the introduction of technologies to meet our emerging needs.
Daniel graduated from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) with a degree in History and Politics in 1993. He also has various industry standard IT qualifications in several technical disciplines, as well as IT Service Management (ITIL), and Project (PRINCE2) and Programme Management (MSP). He is also a qualified Practitioner for both the Management of Risk, (MoR) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
