Leadership at Lunchtime
In January 2014, the University Graduate College will be starting a new and innovative series of talks and discussions for postgraduate research students. The talks will focus on leadership in the context of research, or within academia in general.
We are delighted to announce that the first session in the series will be taking place on Tuesday 14 January, and will be facilitated by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Colin Riordan. The theme of this opening session will be ‘Leadership vision’, and the VC will give a brief presentation which will be followed by the chance for research students to ask questions and discuss relevant theories.
Subsequent sessions will cover the themes of developing yourself and your leadership skills (3 March, facilitated by Professor Paola Borri, EPSRC Fellow in Leadership), women in academic leadership (13 May, facilitated by Professor Patricia Price, Pro Vice Chancellor, Student Experience and Academic Standards), and communicating as a leader (5 June, facilitated by Outstanding Contribution to Leadership Award Winner Professor Gary Baxter).
Sessions will have an informal but practical focus, making them relevant to all postgraduate students and providing inspiration for action you can realistically take now.
Come along and enjoy an inspiring talk, a free lunch and the chance to meet other researchers.
