Seven Secrets of Highly Successful Researchers and Supervisors – 27 November
We are delighted to announce that our annual visit by Dr Hugh Kearns with his highly entertaining and always popular workshop on ‘The Seven Secrets of Highly Effective Researchers’ will take place this year on Wednesday 27 November. At this workshop, Hugh will be sharing his research about the seven key characteristics of the students who are most successful.
Hugh will be covering topics such as the care and maintenance of your supervisor; being realistic; saying no to distractions and getting help. He will also discuss the PhD student diseases of ‘readitis’ and ‘experimentitis’, the symptoms of which are avoiding writing and committing thoughts to paper in case they aren’t good enough! Hugh’s research specialism in topics such as procrastination, self-sabotage and perfectionism have enabled his discovery of several remedies for this and other common afflictions.
