CALL FOR CONFERENCE COMMITTEE MEMBERS – Deadline 3 December
The University Graduate College is pleased to announce that the schedule of 2013-14 student-led conferences has now been finalised:
Voice of Humanities: Thursday 20 March 2014
Spotlight on Social Sciences: Tuesday 15 April 2014
Speaking of Science: Thursday 8 May 2014
Postgraduate researchers are invited to join the committees managing each of these conferences. Administrative staff from the University Graduate College will provide support.
The conferences provide an opportunity for new and more advanced postgraduate research students to give talks and present posters from a wide range of subjects and disciplines, thereby giving a fascinating insight into research that is taking place across the University. The conferences, which are also open to postgraduate researchers from neighbouring institutions, provide a supportive environment for students to present their work to an audience of their peers. The events will open with a keynote speaker and end with a wine reception. To view further information about the conferences, please click here.
Students who have joined the steering committees in the past have greatly enjoyed the experience and have viewed it as a useful addition to their CV. Getting involved will enable you to develop transferable skills that can be applied in wide variety of future career paths. In addition, the skills developed will be useful for organising other events during your PhD (e.g. School-based seminars, regional conferences or cross-disciplinary events under a particular theme).
