Mock PhD Viva (Sciences) – Tuesday 30 April
Tuesday 30 April 2013, 16:00 -18:00
Birt Acres Lecture Theatre, Bute Building
This entertaining event aims to de-mystify the PhD viva by providing an example of a ‘good viva’ and a ‘bad viva’. A team of staff from the sciences will take on the roles of Chairman of Examiners, Internal Examiner, External Examiner, PhD Candidate and Supervisor. The processes involved before, during and after the viva will be explained.
By the end of the event you will:
◗ be familiar with the format of a typical PhD viva in the sciences.
◗ know what types of question might be asked and how to prepare yourself in advance.
◗ have an understanding of the processes involved before, during and after a PhD viva.
