Launch of the Green Impact Awards (Monday 4th November)
Dr Rhys Jones, School of Biosciences and star of the BBC series Rhys Jones’s Wildlife Patrol launches the University’s new Green Impact Awards. The event takes place at 2.00pm in the foyer of the Hadyn Ellis Building. All welcome, no booking necessary – turn up on the day.
Plymouth Wood volunteering (Tuesday 5th November)
Get involved in restoring one of Cardiff's beautiful woodlands, Plymouth Woods. Recently, the woods have been beset by fly-tipping and vandalism. Join us for a morning of clearing and litter-picking, or an afternoon of conservation for the more green-fingered among you. Places are limited and approval must be sought from your line manager.
Fruit and Veg co-op (Tuesday 5th November)
Order your fruit and vegetables from the Your Uni Fruit and Veg Co-op. Visit the Students’ Union Lounge (on the 3rd floor) between 11am and 4pm and order your bag of fruit, veg or stir fry for collection the following week. Bags cost £3.00.
Sustainable menu (Tuesday 5th November)
The University’s catering team will prepare a menu of local produce and sustainable seafood (certified by the Marine Stewardship Council) for restaurants around the University. Ashton’s Fishmongers will have a stand in the VJ Gallery, Main Building during the day where you can sample some sustainable seafood.
Mind the gap; meeting the energy challenge in the UK (Wednesday 6th November)
Actor, author and comedian Griff Rhys Jones chairs a debate which will examine the issue of providing reliable, affordable, clean energy for current and future generations. The event starts at 6.30pm on Wednesday 6th November. Tickets are free but must be reserved.
Bike service and security marking (Thursday 7th November)
Free bike servicing from Cycle Training Wales and free UV security marking from South Wales Police/Cardiff University security is offered to staff and students from midday until 3pm at the Michael Griffiths lecture theatre, Heath Park. No booking needed, just turn up on the day.

Energy saving competition (all week and until 31st March 2014)
Got an idea about how the University can reduce its C02? Want to win £100? Download a form here and submit your idea to Katrina Henderson at firstname.lastname@example.org. The best ideas will either be implemented straight away of investigated for feasibility. An overall winner will be picked from all submissions and will be invited to attend the University’s first Green Impact Awards evening.
