Ruth Milkman - SOCSI Visitor

Professor Ruth Milkman

The purpose of my visit:

To develop stronger relations with faculty and students at Cardiff and to discuss research agendas concerning immigration, labor, and union revitalization.

Who I worked with:

Professors Peter Fairbrother, Huw Beynon, and Edward Heery.

What I gained from my visit:

I gave three lectures to three different audiences during my visit, and got valuable feedback on my work. In addition, we began the process of building ties between UCLA's Institute for Research on Labor and Employment and labor scholars at Cardiff which will hopefully lead to future intellectual exchanges. All the faculty and students I interacted with while at Cardiff were both interesting and hospitable, and I learned a lot during my visit.
