Cardiff Law School awards £83,000 in scholarships to international students
31 October 2014
Last week, over 20 international students attended a short ceremony hosted by the Law School and were presented with their International Scholarship Awards by Head of School, Professor Daniel Wincott.
The scholarships, which this year totalled £83,000, recognise the high level of achievement attained by each individual during the last academic year.
A total of 37 students received scholarships this year, including four LLM International Scholarships (£5,000), five Entrance Bursaries (£1,000) and 28 Merit Scholarships (ranging from £1,000 to £5,000).
International Scholarship winners represented a wide range of countries including Nigeria, Kenya, India, Malaysia, Canada, Hong Kong, USA and Vietnam.
LLB Merit Scholarship winner Chee Ching Chan said:
“This merit scholarship has really helped me tremendously as I am self-funded. I worked with the NHS for six years so I can save sufficient fund to pay for my LLB tuition fees and cost of living. The scholarship has definitely lessened my burden financially. It is truly a motivation for international students to perform better academically.”
