Cardiff University students have the best overall experience as Welsh undergraduates, a major survey has revealed.

The Times Higher Education’s Student Experience annual survey asked full-time students to rate the quality of lectures, staff, social life and accommodation.

Cardiff came out on top in Wales and 14th overall in the UK – up from last year’s position of 22nd.

Welcoming the survey, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience Professor Patricia Price said: "We welcome the very positive feedback from our students in this year’s Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey.

"The result is especially pleasing given our performance in the last National Student Survey (NSS) when Cardiff University recorded its highest level of overall student satisfaction and saw us back in the Sunday Times University Guide’s top 20 of UK Universities - cementing our place as best in Wales.

"Our ambition is to become the University of choice for students from Wales, the UK and internationally; we will continue to invest in our student experience and work in partnership with our students to deliver graduates who are well-rounded, flexible, mobile and highly employable."

There is further success for the University today (29 April) as Cardiff is named leading university in Wales, according to the The Complete University Guide‘s rankings for 2014. Cardiff moves up one place from last year and is now ranked 35th overall in the UK. The ratings are compiled by assessing University performance in nine quality factors including graduate prospects, student satisfaction, research assessment and entry standards.
