This course teaches you a broader range of oral, aural and written language skills.
It will enable you to get by on topics concerned with everyday matters and express yourself in writing in a more elaborate style. You will also further develop your understanding of the culture of Italy.
The emphasis of the course is on speaking and in class you will get ample opportunity to practise your conversational skills through pair-work and group exercises, listen to authentic audio/video tapes, read simplified newspaper texts and complete exercises that will enhance your vocabulary and knowledge of grammar.
A wide range of topics useful for your holiday in Italy will be covered i.e. meeting people, future plans/jobs, food, health/sport and education.
You will also cover the following key elements of grammar: pronouns, interrogative, comparisons, passato remoto and informal imperative.

Learning and teaching
The emphasis of the course is on participation and students are encouraged to actively take part in class through various activities designed to stimulate communication.
Coursework and assessment
To award credits we need to have evidence of the knowledge and skills you have gained or improved.
Some of this has to be in a form that can be shown to external examiners so that we can be absolutely sure that standards are met across all courses and subjects.
You will not have formal examinations but you may have reading and listening class tests. You may be asked to write short texts as homework.
Our assessments are flexible to suit the course and the student. The most important element of assessment is that it should enhance your learning.
Our methods are designed to increase your confidence and we try very hard to devise ways of assessing you that are enjoyable and suitable for adults with busy lives.
