Course Studied: BA Journalism, Film and Broadcasting

Current Employer: BBC News

Position: Bolivia reporter

Briefly describe your current position.
Report on the ground on Bolivia issues from politics to quirky stories for radio, TV and online. I also write regularly on Latin American issues for the Financial Times and the Guardian.

What is the best thing about your current position?
Being able to, actually, do it.

How well did your JOMEC education prepare you for your current position?
A lot. The research skills acquired while I was doing my dissertation, the ‘read between the lines’ approach of the Conflict & the Media module, the writing (newspaper and magazine) workshops - most of all, in my case, as an non-native English speaker.  Also, great lecturers help to shape –potential- great careers; my JOMEC experience also helped me to get into a good graduate school.

What did you enjoy most about studying here?
Simply, the fact that I was there. I met fantastic people, people that influenced me a lot.

Why did you choose JOMEC/Cardiff as a place to study?
Before applying I’ve simply asked: Which are the best journalism schools in the UK? And Cardiff was one of those.

What are your plans and hopes for your professional future?
So many…
