Investors in People (IiP) - The Standard Framework

What is Investors in People (IiP)?

Investors in People (IiP) is a nationally recognised framework that helps organisations to improve their performance and realise their objectives through the effective management and development of their people.

The Investors in People (IiP) 10 point plan, do and review framework.

The Standard is based on three key principles:

  • Plan – Developing strategies to improve the performance of the organisation
  • Do – Taking action to improve the performance of the organisation
  • Review – Evaluating the impact on the performance of the organisation.

 

 

 

 

 

Developing strategies to improve the performance of the organisation. An Investor in People develops effective strategies to improve the performance of the organization through its people.

  1. Business Strategy - The strategy for improving the performance of the organisation is clearly defined and understood.
  2. Learning and Development Strategy - Learning and Development is planned to achieve the organisation’s objectives.
  3. People Management Strategy - Strategies for managing people are designed to promote equality of opportunity in the development of the organisation’s people.
  4. Leadership and Management Strategy - The capabilities managers need to lead, manage and develop people effectively are clearly defined and understood.

Taking action to improve the performance of the organisation. An Investor in people takes effective action to improve the performance of the organisation through its people.

  1. Management Effectiveness - Managers are effective in leading managing and developing people.
  2. Recognition and Reward - People’s contribution to the organisation is recognised and valued.
  3. Involvement and Empowerment - People are encouraged to take ownership and responsibility by being involved in decision-making.
  4. Learning and Development - People learn and develop effectively.

Evaluation the impact on the performance of the organisation. An Investor in People can demonstrate the impact of its investment in people on the performance of the organisation.

  1. Performance Measurement - Investment in people improves the performance of the organisation.
  2. Continuous Improvement - Improvements are continually made to the way people are managed and developed.

The IiP Standard is awarded indefinitely, subject to regular reviews no more than three years apart.
