Accommodation

Disabled students

As a disabled student, you will be given priority during the allocation process, and, if necessary, could be guaranteed a place in University residences for the duration of your course.

A number of specifically adapted residences are available, in particular for wheelchair users and students with a hearing impairment.

When to inform us of your needs

Please note on your online application if you have a disability or medical condition which needs to be taken into account, or of which your Residences Manager should be aware. You should note these requirements on your application, regardless of which residence you are applying for, or even if you have already been in contact with the Disability Advisor with regards to special requirements.

Only information that you provide at the time of application, with written confirmation from a medical practitioner, will be taken into account when allocating rooms. All disability or medical information is treated confidentially, and only used for the purposes stated above.

Adjustments during your stay

We are also happy to make individual reasonable adjustments for disabled students, for example, installing a handrail in a bathroom. You can request such adjustments at any time during your stay, please talk to your Residences Manager. However, if you are aware of any adjustments in advance of your arrival, please contact the Disability Advisor to discuss these, and we will try to have it in place by the time you arrive.
