The conference aims to bring together scholars from different disciplinary backgrounds, especially language and communication research, and professional specialities (e.g., healthcare, social care, therapy, law, mediation, management, business, journalism, education). A special emphasis will be on cross-boundary collaboration and translation of research findings to ensure impact.

This inaugural conference coincides with the relaunch of Journal of Applied Linguistics as Journal of Applied Linguistics and Professional Practice

Deadline for Proposals: 31st January 2011

Proposals (individual papers, posters, workshops and colloquia) are invited on all areas of the conference theme. Individual paper / poster proposals should be within 250 words, and proposals for colloquia and workshops should be within 500 words.

The ALAPP conference is immediately followed by the HCRC Summer School in Cardiff (27--29 June) and the COMET conference in Nottingham (30 June--02 July).
