Welcome to Cross School Research

Scientists across disciplines will increasingly have to address rapidly changing and complex problems such as poverty, climate change impacts, waste, energy, food security, water resources.

If we are to provide solutions, we need to bridge disciplinary divides, namely between natural and social scientists. But how do we get natural and social scientists to communicate and develop a shared understanding when for more than three centuries fundamental differences have divided these disciplines?

At Cardiff University, we aim to identify unifying ideas that can transcend scientific traditions. We aim to bring together early career researchers across all the Cardiff University schools to meet on challenges that require a more interdisciplinary approach (e.g. adapting to climate change, sustainability of ecosystem services, managing water resources).
