In your Academic School

Our Careers Team will liaise with your Departmental Careers Liaison Officer (CLO) to design a programme of sessions that are customised to your course. Your CLO will normally distribute details by email but keep an eye on noticeboards and other forms of communication used in your School. They usually run in the Autumn and Spring Semesters.

In the Student Support Centre

The Student Support Service provides a range of courses aimed at enhancing your ability to manage anxiety and stress, build self-esteem and learn to use your drive to succeed positively, reducing the pressure of perfectionism.  All these can help you to develop strong workplace relationships, and proficiency in managing the demands and pressures of a modern work environment, and are skills that are highly regarded by employers.

The courses offered by the Student Support Service include the following:

    • Don’t Let the Worry Blues Get You Down – Learn how to reduce and manage anxiety
    • Perfectionism – Learn to reduce self imposed pressure and enjoy achieving
    • Just the Way You Are – Learn to enhance your self-esteem and develop positive working relationships
    • Under Pressure – Learn to reduce and manage stress effectively
    • Tomorrow Never Comes – Learn to discard procrastination tendencies and confidently tackle work assignments (new for 2013/14)

In the Students’ Union

The Skills Development Service (SDS) provides a range of courses aimed at building your confidence, improving your transferable skills and increasing your employability potential. Certificates are awarded for successful completion of courses and are highly regarded by employers.

The courses offered by the Skills Development Service are broken down into three main areas:
