Destinations of Leavers of Higher Education/Graduate Destinations

What is DLHE?

Each year Cardiff University is required to carry out the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey of UK and EU graduates according to strict guidelines laid down by HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency). Careers & Employability is responsible for this annual exercise.

The DLHE survey is a national survey carried out six months after graduation in order to provide a snapshot of graduates’ employment circumstances. Care should be taken when examining the results as a longitudinal study carried out approximately 40 months after graduation will be more indicative of longer term career plans.

What happens to the Data?

The data is collated and returned to HESA at the end of March each year. HESA publish a summary of National results in August.

Careers & Employability produces a variety of tables and information sheets based on the results of the DLHE survey.

What can staff do to help?

We are only allowed to contact graduates on certain dates, by certain methods.  We need to have as up to date information as possible in order for us to carry out the survey successfully.

  • Encourage all your students to ensure that their contact details at Registry are up to date.
  • Encourage students to include an alternative email address to their Cardiff one in their contact details.
