Cardiff University has over 1500 PhD students and approximately 800 research staff across 29 academic Schools. These students and staff work on projects as diverse as stem cells and DNA in the labs of the University to sustainability and contributing to business practice and public sector policies – all have a wealth of analytical, project management and excellent communication skills to name but a few.
Whilst a proportion of these researchers will develop their careers within the University sector, we know that many are also keen to explore opportunities with other employers, large, small, public, and private. The majority of research staff are employed at the University on fixed-term contracts and therefore a proportion of them regularly review the external employment market.
