Under the leadership of its current director, MRC Professor Ole Petersen CBE FRS, the School provides a dynamic and stimulating research and learning environment with impressive modern facilities and high-calibre research and teaching staff.
Cardiff School of Biosciences has a wide range of three and four-year postgraduate research programmes as well as a one-year MRes in Bioscience course. Research activity in the School spans the range of biology from whole (eco) systems to molecular biology and protein structure and postgraduate projects are undertaken in one of the four research divisions. Each research division is led by an internationally renowned researcher and division members run dynamic internationally recognized research programmes.

Master of Research (MRes) in Biosciences
This one-year programme is designed to enable individuals who wish to improve their research skills to undertake a research project in the laboratory of an internationally renowned scientist. The programme would be ideal for someone thinking of undertaking a PhD but wishing to learn more about research. It also offers the award of a postgraduate certificate thus maximising accessibility to individuals working in industry or higher education.
